Everyone from the industry gathered in the Santa Monica National Park, California for the showcase of Christian Dior’s cruise collection Resort 2018. The collection is inspired by the romantic world of the Wild West from the time of the period of the Civil war, and the art of the indigenous population of North America.
In the process of creating the collection of the French fashion house, they have also used models from the 1951 Oval Line by Christian Dior, which includes dresses with drawings from the Lascaux Cave (famous for its Palaeolithic cave drawings).
Maria Grazia Chiuri continues the topic about feminism in this collection as well, but in a rather mystical form – reaching out for the Tarot cards and the female figures from them. The images, inspired by the artists of the divinatory deck, have been gathered in some sort of a mosaic which the creative director of Dior has encrypted into the traditional clothing of the Native American people of Navajo – ponchos, clothes with fringes, tassels and feathers.
And in order for the Wild West to show its full glory, the collection obviously also boasts hats and denim clothing, borrowed from the cowboys of the south states.
