Elsa Schiaparelli, thanks to her deep love for nature and botany, adorned the halls of Place Vendôme with stars, floral compositions and cosmic elements. Long before the time of surrealism. Dozens of collections follow, including this micro explosion which was born out of childhood memories, culminated in the magical spring/summer 2019 collection. Exceptionally feminine outfits, where the sun, the moon and the stars, together with the explosions of different comets, find their place. Flowers become planets and vice versa…
We witnessed graceful, feminine silhouettes, pastel palettes and materials that seem to invite us to a dance somewhere in the beautiful starry summer sky. The show wasn’t short of beautiful silk prints as well as strongly defined silhouettes, either. If you have ever imagined the true Garden of Eden, then Schiaparelli’s collection seems to be the only plausible proof that such a safe haven exists.
The designer was also very particular about choosing the models who showed the outfits on the catwalk. If, up to now, we have grown accustomed to standard and typical choices (slender bodies with almost the same kind of expression), then we had plenty of surprises here, but we are going to let you enjoy on your own these unusual and endlessly intriguing models.
Schiaparelli’s collection takes us back to femininity managing to represent it in new and different ways, which are much more than thrilling, sumptuous and infinitely beautiful.
