Feminism and the triumph of femininity were amongst the main topics of Paris Fashion Week. Exquisite silhouettes, tender colours and ultra-short skirts and dresses, revealing all the grace of ladies’ legs, predominated the collections of most French fashion houses for spring/summer 2019.
Italian designer Antonio Grimaldi’s collection was no exception to this. Spherical shapes and intricate embroidery were at the base of his collection’s theme: the legend of the labyrinth. Dark brown, cream, grey, soft pink and beige were amongst the colours of the designer’s palette. Cool shades alternating with warmer nuances that were following the leitmotif of the fiery love story from the legend.
Asymmetrical cuts (predominantly sleeveless), airy, see-through materials, feather adornments and golden elements were at the base of the perfectly sculpted silhouettes of the dresses. For more authenticity, the models on the catwalk were wearing golden nets on their eyes that added a particular mysterious look to them. Golden accessories in the form of insects were wrapped around the models’ wrists and fingers.
On the backdrop of such sensual femininity, elegance and mysticism, Italian actress Asia Argento was chosen as the star of the show. Dressed in a mini white dress with bare shoulders and snow-white feathers, contrasting with her tattoos. A dazzling present-day Ariadne who gathered all the applause from the guests of the show at Le Meurice Hotel. At the end of the show, Argento, who is one of the leading figures in the #MeToo movement, shared that for her, fashion is the perfect way for every woman to express her personality and historical past.
