Easy to prepare, gathering the best nutrients that fruit and nuts contain, beneficial to the skin, hair and the general health of your body, and last but not least – sooooooooo beautiful, smoothie bowls have become a phenomenon on Instagram among fitness and lifestyle bloggers.
And spring seems like the perfect time for us to learn to start our day not with the convenience of the croissant, but with fruit and nuts, aesthetically arranged in a bowl. The time to prepare this will perfectly fill in the pause while you are waiting for the coffee to get ready.
For the base of the smoothie bowl you could use anything that you like snacking on: a fruit or vegetable smoothie, chia seed pudding, yoghurt, or some grains (quinoa or fine oats). You could just use some chia pudding. You make it by soaking 2 tablespoons chia seeds in half a cup of almond milk the evening before. Let it sit in the fridge overnight. In the morning, blend the mixture with half a frozen banana, 1-2 dates and 1 tablespoon peanut butter. Garnish with your favourite fruit and nuts, coconut flakes and chia seeds. And do not be afraid of overdoing it. It is impossible!
The brighter and the more extraordinary the colour of the smoothie bowl is, the better, isn’t it? We slide into the realm of colour therapy! For a yellow smoothie, mix almond or coconut milk with mangoes, apricots and pineapple, for a green one – banana, avocado and kale. You can get a bright red smoothie by adding some fresh beetroot juice to a banana, but also by mixing cashews, agave syrup and strawberries. The most exotic of all options, the bright blue one is achieved with the help of the Blue Majik powder (a spirulina extract, which is one of the most nutritious supplements with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties).
