TOP 5 ON FRIDAY: 5 LIFE LESSONS FROM SEX AND THE CITY WHICH WE STILL BELIEVE IN

x

We believe that there is no other series, which women keep going back to again and again, like Sex and the City. You could learn so much from the little to the huge dramas of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte! Four women who stay true to themselves and to their ideals, despite the attempts of the Big Apple to show them that they are a thing of the past. Soul sisters who relentlessly search for love and never stop talking about dreams, feelings and men.

They say that a person learns from the mistakes and successes of other people. Here are what life lessons we learned from Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte.

1. Never give up on your dreams!

Regardless of the fact whether your dreams are related to a baby, an engagement ring or going to work for a coveted company, never compromise your aspirations to achieve them. If you do not succeed the first time, try again. And again! Or just like Samantha Jones says: “This is just a hindrance along the way, do not retreat at the first problem. Have faith and everything will get better.” Well, who could question her words, anyway?!

2. Each relationship teaches us something new!

If you think about it carefully, you are going to draw the conclusion that heartbreaks are in fact not such a bad thing, after all. Because the bitterness they leave in your heart brings along some extremely valuable lessons with itself. Being more cautious, for instance. Or avoiding men who start each of their sentences with “I”. “It is never a complete waste of time. You could learn something even from your worst relationship. There is a reason for everything even if we don’t know what it is”, claims the hopelessly romantic Charlotte. “At the end of the day, computers break, people die, relationships fall apart. The best thing we could do is take a deep breath and start everything over again”, Carrie admits, too.

3. There is nothing more important than friends!

Men come and go, we fall in and out of love, we exclaim, we suffer… But those who always remain behind our back, ready to catch us if we trip and fall are friends. The true ones! Those who know our tears and our wounds, and who know how to heal them. “No matter who broke your heart and how much time it needs to recover, you cannot make it without your friends”, admits Carrie Bradshaw. There is another quote which is also a very favourite of ours: “They say nothing lasts forever. Seasons come and go, trends do, too, but friendship never goes out of fashion.”

4. Never forget how to love yourself!

“Don’t forget to love yourself first”, Carrie Bradshaw reminds us not just once in the series. When you are down or when your heart is filled with passion and desire, when you are wondering which way to go, never forget that the answer is love. You cannot love others if you do not love yourself.

“Maybe some women don’t need to be tamed. Maybe they need to run free until they find someone who is as wild as they are and who can run free with them”, says Carrie.

5. Love is waiting around the corner!

A break-up doesn’t mean an end. It is a beginning of something new. Of a meeting with something different and probably more beautiful. “I believe that somewhere out there, there is somebody who completes us perfectly”, declares Charlotte York. And this somebody is impatiently waiting to be discovered because… “somewhere out there, there is a little weird guy who will love us and understand us, who will embrace our own weirdness and everything will be fine”, stubbornly believes Carrie.
