Always, at this time of the year we are waiting impatiently to find out which the most sought-after colour for the next year will be. After Greenery, Rose Quartz and Serenity, according to the Pantone Color Institute, the time has come for Ultra Violet. It is dramatic, provocative, it makes you think. It symbolises creativity and visionary thinking as if it was looking into the future. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, announced that living at a time that requires more and more imaginativeness, we need some genuine creative inspiration. One that Ultra Violet could present us with.
This is a purple shade with a blue base, which is capable of guiding us optically towards the study and research of new technologies, the Universe, our personal creative potential. Ultra Violet is a special colour, hiding it itself the mysteries and the secrets of space, of what is to be, of the discoveries that we are on the verge of making. A number of musicians such as Prince, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix have honoured purple for its soft shades, emotion, depth, invitation to experiment. If we look at it from a purely historical point of view, Ultra Violet is a colour charged with a lot of mysticism, used in a range of spiritual practices, yoga and meditation. It is connected to that inner peace of mind which is so difficult to achieve, and which we are constantly in search of, always in a hurry…
While selecting inspirational Ultra Violet combinations from the streets of our favourite fashion capitals, we are listening to one of the best tracks ever. Purple Rain. And may you always have someone who will only want to see you laughing in the purple rain.
