Art and high fashion have never been closer. At the moment, the latest haute couture collections are being shown in Paris, and the city looks like a fairy tale more than ever before. We have selected two incredible collections which, in our point of view, are very much alike, at least conceptually! Maria Grazia Chiuri reveals that her collection for Dior is a true ode to surrealism. Namely because high fashion represents a dream and an aspiration to something beautiful. To a place that has no boundaries and you can experiment with technique, materials and shapes. We fancy the exquisite prints, the theatricality and the sumptuousness of the outfits, the gowns reaching down to the ground, the feathers that seem to be about to lift us in the air any moment now.
Giambattista Valli’s collection, on the other hand, turns us into real fairies. It invites us to secret gardens where we could run away and hide, even for one evening, even for a split second! We fell in love with the extraordinary lace, the gracious veils, the lengths at play. The materials take delicate turns between velvet, silk and lace, hair falls down freely and slits reach up to the heavens. The selection of images that we have prepared for you could serve as the perfect break during the working day. We start with Dior’s collection and we gradually move to Giambattista Valli, dreaming about being princesses who don’t step on the ground, but float high above in a palace, in the embraces of our loved ones…
