A “little beauty miracle” is the cutest way for us to call avocado oil. Why so? Because it contains so many health-boosting components, that it can perform miracles with your hair and your skin. Just look…
Avocado oil is extracted from the flesh of the fruit and is amongst the very few vegetable oils which are not obtained from the seeds. Some of the nutritional and medical advantages of avocado oil have already been confirmed while others are yet to be proved in the lab. One thing is for sure, however – it is one of the oils with the highest nutritional values. It is just as healthy as olive and almond oil, but it is significantly more expensive.
Avocado oil is being offered in two varieties – organic (pure), extracted in a natural way, and non-organic – extracted through chemical methods. Organic avocado oil is the one which is obtained through the first cold press of the fruit and it is exceptionally healthy. It keeps fresh for prolonged swathes of time and could be stored for extended periods. Organic cold-pressed avocado oil has a greenish colour and a nutty flavour, and exudes the aroma of the freshly cut avocado fruit. It is considered to have low cholesterol and saturated fats levels. Because of its pleasant colour and highly-esteemed properties, it is used for the preparation of different types of salads and meals. Cold-pressed avocado oil is an active ingredient in many cosmetic products for face and hair. It is the best hydrating agent amongst vegetable oils and this is the main reason for it being preferred in the production of cosmetic products.
Why is it so valuable?
Avocado oil contains high concentrations of monounsaturated fats, potassium and vitamins A, E and D. Monounsaturated fats are highly beneficial and indispensable to healthy nutrition.
The fruit is rich in antioxidants, as well as in beta-sitosterol, which have been proven to lower the risk of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Beta-sitosterol has also been found to inhibit cell division. In such a way, it could, to a certain extent, protect you from the development of cancer cells. With grown-ups, avocado oil improves sight, owing to lutein – a type of carotenoid.
Magnesium is also to be found in large quantities in this fruit. It is considered that it relieves migraine conditions and that it even eliminates the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. There is no way for us not to mention the fact that the avocado is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which is even greater news for our health. Omega-3 fatty acids decrease inflammations, lower the levels of bad cholesterol and high blood pressure, and reduce the symptoms of arthritis and depression.
Apart from everything else mentioned thus far, the avocado is rich in folic acid, as well. About 250 grams of the fruit contain approximately 23 percent of your daily intake of folic acid. It, too, plays an important role in lowering the rick cardiovascular diseases.
The advantages of avocado oil to the skin
Is your skin dry? Then this oil will win you on its side from the very first touch! The moment you apply it, it will be completely absorbed by your skin. This automatically makes it one of the greatest moisturising agents for face and body out there.
Avocado oil can also boast astonishing anti-ageing properties. It will keep your skin smooth and will delay the appearance of first wrinkles for up to a few years. In addition to its skin care qualities, this oil could relieve persistent irritation and itching of the scalp, as well. And if you apply it regularly after washing your hair, it will also stimulate its growth.
As we very well know, some natural oils have the properties of being effective sunscreen products and avocado oil is one of them. And this is much healthier than ready-made cosmetic products. It is believed that natural oils have a high sun-protection factor which prevents the skin from pigmentation. Apart from that, they are also rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, which protect the skin against drying out.
